Detox Tonic Tincture Lab Results

Tested by an independent, A2LA accredited laboratory. Here is exactly what came back.

Vanguard Laboratory report for HippyBritt Detox Tonic showing non-detect results for lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury

Independent testing has repeatedly found lead, cadmium, and arsenic in popular teas and supplements, sometimes at thousands of percent over the limits considered safe. Which is a strange thing to find in something you are taking to feel better.

Saying my herbs are clean is easy. Anyone can say it. So I sent my Detox Tonic to Vanguard Laboratory, an independent A2LA accredited lab, and had it tested.

Here is the full report, and what it means.

Heavy Metals: Non-Detect on All Four

Arsenic (As) Non-detect ICP-MS

Mercury (Hg) Non-detect ICP-MS

Lead (Pb)  Non-detect ICP-MS

Cadmium (Cd)  Non-detect ICP-MS

Non-detect means exactly what it sounds like. Not low. Not within acceptable limits. The instruments did not find it.

Testing was done by ICP-MS, the standard method for trace metal analysis, at detection limits of 0.025 ppm for arsenic, lead, and cadmium, and 0.005 ppm for mercury.

Microbiological Screening: Clean

Test Result

Aerobic Plate Count Less than 10 CFU/mL

Yeast and Mold Less than 10 CFU/mL

Staphylococcus aureus Less than 10 CFU/mL

Coliforms Less than 10 CFU/mL

E. coli Negative

Heavy metals get the attention, but microbial contamination matters just as much in a liquid herbal product. This screening covers the organisms you would actually worry about, and everything came back at or below the limit of detection.

Why I Tested This Formula

Detox Tonic contains the five herbs at highest risk for contamination in the herbal industry. Roots and leaves that draw heavily from the soil they grow in, which means whatever is in that soil can end up in the finished product.

If anything was going to show up, it would have shown up here. That is why this is the formula I sent.

What This Report Does and Does Not Cover

This report is for Detox Tonic. My other formulas have not been individually tested, and I am not going to imply otherwise.

I chose Detox Tonic because it carries the highest contamination risk of anything I make. It is the hardest case, not a representative sample, and I will add more reports here as I test more formulas.
